 Finding Your Own Style

Am I

cool yet?

Hey you! Yeah you.

Are you feeling insecure because all your friends have cool outfits? Do you find yourself constantly struggling to keep up with fashion trends? Well, you've come to the right place.

Fashion, like any form of art, is subjective. While your hiking buddies may appreciate your new utility cargo pants, mom will say they look too baggy. There are so many people to please, it's stressful!

Trying to follow trends is almost impossible. As soon as you buy something that's "in style", it'll be forgotten in a few weeks.

Another problem is that fashion has become more about the brands you wear than the outfits themselves. Yes, I'm talking about you hypebeasts, resellers, and swag seekers — just because you're flexing a Supreme hoodie doesn't mean you automatically look good. In reality, there's probably a better outfit at Old Navy that's cheaper and more stylish.

Having great taste doesn't mean buying the most expensive outfit. Discover what's best for you.

Ask yourself the important questions: What do YOU like? When you look in the mirror and put something on, does it make you happy?

Are you a bold and elaborate dresser, or do you prefer to keep it casual? What size clothing will complement your body type? Which colors look best on you?

Play around with different styles and see what works. And sure, you can take inspiration from fashion experts online, but try to put your own spin on it. Your style needs to feel unique to you.

For me, I enjoy wearing subtle, neutral tones. After integrating shades like navy blue, crimson, and olive green to my wardrobe, it's been much easier to mix and match.

I've also avoided fast-fashion trends by adding timeless pieces to my collection. Things like bomber jackets, flannels, retro band tees, dark wash jeans, Vans, Converse, and Nike Air Force 1s will never go out of style. These items can easily be paired with your more expensive pieces as well.

Have some fun with it. And even if it means wearing your best outfits at home, go for it! After all, it's not just about impressing others — make sure you feel comfortable in your own skin.

"There's no such thing as great taste, it's your taste."
